Perfect Ten in Extra Innings

With the win last night, the Blue Jays are now 10-0 in extra innings at home. If they can finish this homestand without losing beyond the ninth inning, that would set a new MLB record for wins at home in extra innings without a loss.

Edwin Encarnacion wills the ball fair

With the win, the Blue Jays have set a record by becoming the only team in MLB history to go 11-0 in extra innings at home during a single season.

18 years ago, the Blue Jays clinched back-to-back World Series courtesy of Joe Carter’s home run to left field off Mitch Williams.

2 Years Ago Today: the Roy Halladay Trade

It’s hard to believe, but 2 years ago to this day the Toronto Blue Jays traded away a cornerstone of their franchise: Roy Halladay to the Philadelphia Phillies for prospects Kyle Drabek, Travis d’Arnaud, and Michael Taylor (who was flipped for Brett Wallace).

After 14 years with the Blue Jays organization, Doc got his wish and was traded to a contender for a shot at World Series championship. There were Halladay trade all throughout 2009, but the trade finally went down just before the Winter Meetings.

The trade itself wasn’t that shocking because we saw it all coming, but it was just the fact that Roy Halladay would no longer be in a Blue Jays uniform that got to me.

It was nice to see him pitch during the Canada Day weekend series at the Rogers Centre this past summer, and it was just look the good old days - except this time around he was wearing red pinstripes and pitching for the other guys.

Nevertheless, I always fantasize that once the Blue Jays become perennial contenders again, Roy Halladay will want to come back to Toronto and he can finally win that World Series ring he’s been gunning for.

Miss you, Doc.

Now this is a video game cover I can get behind. I was very excited to see Jose Bautista getting this kind of recognition, even if it’s just a Canadian exclusive. Oh well. Anything is better than buying a cover with a member of the Red Sox on it.

March 6th can’t get here soon enough!
