2012 Blue Jays Promotional Schedule Released

Rejoyce, Blue Jays fans! The team has come out with their 2012 Promotional Schedule.

There are lots of great giveaways this season, including three .. yes, three bobblehead giveaway days. Brandon Morrow, Ricky Romero and Yunel Escobar will all be available in bobblehead form.

The best part is that the giveaways have increased from the first 10,000 fans to the first 20,000 fans. That’s twice the amount of bobbleheads, which is great news because the giveaways seemed to go especially fast last season.

Here are a few other noteabale giveaway days:

April 9: Honda Home Opener, Rally Towel Giveaway

May 20: Brandon Morrow Bobblehead Giveaway

June 3: Yunel Escobar Bobblehead Giveaway

June 13: 2012 Team Card Set Giveaway

June 17: Father’s Day, Blue Jays Batting Helmet Giveaway

August 12: Blue Jays Cap Giveaway

August 19: Ricky Romero Giveaway

September 30: Fan Appreciation T-Shirt Giveaway

Also making a return at the Home Opener is the Rally Towel giveaway. While I’m sure it looks great on television to have 47,000+ fans waving their towels in unison, it creates a problem of folks throwing them onto the field.

Hopefully the Blue Jays either beef up the security for this year, or they only limit the rally towels to the folks on the lower deck.

The Yunel Escobar Eyeblack Scandal

What once was a fun past time has now transformed into a soapbox for someone to display their beliefs to the entire world. And frankly, it makes me sick.

All I can say is Yunel Escobar should be ashamed of himself. It’s absolutely inexcusable to think that somebody could get away with something like that, and thankfully the keen eye of James didn’t let it go unnoticed.

Despite some attempts by reporters to get a clear answer as to why Escobar wrote what he did in the first place, we’re left with more questions than answers. Frankly, any explanation Yunel could have given would not justify what he did … it’s simply wrong.
