LOL #BlueJays when they were #BabyJays! Adorbs Fisher Cats: Brett, Ricky, JP, Travis WUT!?
via @1NHFCfan4ever Look at this oldie! Fun times in NH. http://twitpic.com/6pxquu
I’m curious who that guy is beside Brett Cecil. Looks like a mix between CC Sabathia and Jose Valverde.
This isn’t really Blue Jays related, but I have to give Justin Verlander props for keeping such a slim physique for eating Taco Bell every 5 days.
I think I heard somewhere that Jose Bautista’s pre-game meal is tea and toast. A very modest meal compared to Justin Verlander’s.

Major League Baseball’s Salary Arbitration process is very confusing. I find that every year, I’m discovering something completely new about arb. So to make it a little easier, I created this Salary Arbitration Flow Chart.
And yet … even a flow chart can’t make the process any more exciting or colourful.

It nearly happened in 1993: a trade to bring Randy Johnson to the Blue Jays was agreed in principle. The reason why it didn’t happen was Pat Gillick couldn’t reach Seattle Mariners GM Woody Woodward, as he was out on the golf course.
After he finished his round, Woodward called Gillick back and agree on the trade: Randy Johnson for Mike Timlin and Steve Karsay. But Gillick had already dealt Karsay to the Athletics for Ricky Henderson.
Oh, what could have been for the Blue Jays!

Rejoyce, Blue Jays fans! The team has come out with their 2012 Promotional Schedule.
There are lots of great giveaways this season, including three .. yes, three bobblehead giveaway days. Brandon Morrow, Ricky Romero and Yunel Escobar will all be available in bobblehead form.
The best part is that the giveaways have increased from the first 10,000 fans to the first 20,000 fans. That’s twice the amount of bobbleheads, which is great news because the giveaways seemed to go especially fast last season.
Here are a few other noteabale giveaway days:
April 9: Honda Home Opener, Rally Towel Giveaway
May 20: Brandon Morrow Bobblehead Giveaway
June 3: Yunel Escobar Bobblehead Giveaway
June 13: 2012 Team Card Set Giveaway
June 17: Father’s Day, Blue Jays Batting Helmet Giveaway
August 12: Blue Jays Cap Giveaway
August 19: Ricky Romero Giveaway
September 30: Fan Appreciation T-Shirt Giveaway
Also making a return at the Home Opener is the Rally Towel giveaway. While I’m sure it looks great on television to have 47,000+ fans waving their towels in unison, it creates a problem of folks throwing them onto the field.
Hopefully the Blue Jays either beef up the security for this year, or they only limit the rally towels to the folks on the lower deck.

Just venturing a guess … 37.

What better day than Valentine’s Day for a great love story?
This is the tale of my break-up and make-up with baseball and the Toronto Blue Jays. Luckily, like any great love story, it has a happy ending.

Ever wondered who the Blue Jays evil twins are around the league? Then look no further!

In a nutshell, when it comes to baseball games, it doesn’t get any better than MLB 12 The Show. 9 out of 10 for me. Check out the full review with screenshots over on BJH.
Word came down via Twitter (although nothing official yet) that MLB will be cracking down on Animated GIF’s.
As you’re reading this on Tumblr, I’m sure you’re very aware that Animated GIF’s make up a huge portion of posts on Tumblr.
While the inner rebellion in me wants to lash out against MLB and MLB Advanced Media, I can see see it from both sides. MLB wants to protect its content at all costs and drive people to THEIR website and collect all the hits.
On that same token, Animated GIF’s are a short and fun way to enjoy quirky, funny and interesting moments during a game that otherwise might not be seen on the highlight reel.
Up until not very long ago, MLB videos weren’t even embeddable in blog posts, which made baseball highlights even more inaccessible. That’s probably why people stared making the GIF’s in the first place.
In the end, it’s all promoting Major League Baseball anyway … but I guess it’s the principle of “stealing” content which they are taking issue with. Even though it’s not coming from a malicious place, Animated GIF’s are in that grey area when it comes to content.
I think if MLB made its content much more accessible and user-friendly, this wouldn’t have happened in the first place. The NBA and NHL were very quick to adopt the formula and have done a great job of streamlining online content so that it gets out to as many fans as possible.
It seems like something stupid to get worked up about, but people really do love their Animated GIF’s … especially their baseball GIF’s.
If they do in fact decide to ban Animated GIF’s, I guess that’s just a decision we’ll have to live with. But I believe MLB is doing more harm than good by clamping down on Animated GIF’s.
