Today, Brian Butterfield accepted a third base coach position with the Boston Red Sox. Here he is throwing up the stop sign to Moises Sierra, which he completely blows through. Probably my favourite Brian Butterfield-related memory.

Up until today, I really wasn’t quite sure of the gravity of Brian Butterfield leaving the Blue Jays coaching staff and moving on to the Boston Red Sox. Thanks to Richard Griffin’s piece, I have a whole new appreciation for Butterfield.
John Farrell admitted his dream job was to manage for the Boston Red Sox. Brian Butterfield’s dream job was to manage for the Toronto Blue Jays. He was a class act till the end, thanks Butter.

I hate to say it, but Brian Butterfield is one of them now. It’s just so odd seeing him in a Red Sox uniform.
