He briefly considered the thought of returning to safe harbor. “There will be other opportunities to return; fairer winds or smoother seas,” he thought. “Perhaps it is for the best.”
"But who is this man preventing my joyous reunion? What value is he? Is it he who struck the enemy? Is it he who survived the torments of a long journey, far from home? No, and no again."
In that moment, he was reminded of Teddy Roosevelt, and his mind was set. “If I am to fail,” he thought, “at least I will fail while daring greatly. My place, safe or no, will not be with such cold and timid souls as this.”
